Programs Offered

The student will be placed at a local hospital that is part of the Health Group based in Coimbra. This hospital has a rich history dating back to 1953, when the first hospital was established as the first health unit with an operating room and inpatient, located in the heart of Coimbra. As part of a local private hospital group, students will gain valuable insights by learning from various departments and key hospital management processes.

Program 4 weeks -  28 days in total

(June or July  or August 2025)

• 20 Shadowing Days (5 days a week; 4 hours a day)

• 27 accommodation nights (no meals)

• Airport Transfers

• Transport Pass (Coimbra City buses)

• 3 cultural escapes (w1 – w2 – w3)

• 4 social events (w1 – w2 – w3 – w4)

• Standard Insurance (Option)

The student will be placed at Research Oncological Public Hospital in Coimbra. This local hospital is part of the Portuguese Government National Health System and a key instuttion in Cancer treatmemt.  

The medical study and treatment of oncological disease in Portugal dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century. On December 29, 1923, by Decree of the Ministry of Public Instruction, the Portuguese Institute for the Study of Cancer was created, then with temporary headquarters in Coimbra.
